Best USB-C hubs and adapters for Mac 2026Macworld USB-C and its Thunderbolt variant are the most up-to-date standards of the USB connector. They allow data-transfer speeds of up to 80Gbps, can fast-charge devices up to 240W, and conveniently fit in a port either way up—which means that you can wave bye-bye to the age-old USB guessing game of “Which way does it go in?”. USB-C is no one-trick pony—handling data transfer, video output and power input. You’ll find faster variants of USB-C (called Thunderbolt 3, 4 or 5) on Macs. Each versio - 02

But this year, October looks set to be even busier , and perhaps even more critical to the company’s long-term prospects. But sep - 06

John Ternus is already doing it allMacworld John Ternus has now been CEO of Apple for over a month, so it’s time to rate his legacy. Okay, that’s probably unfair. Let’s give the guy at least a quarter. But since we’re on the subject, what can we glean from what Ternus has done so far that will indicate what kind of CEO he’ll be? Admittedly, even that’s going to be hard because he’s barely had time to actually do anything, but there are some early indicators brought to us by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. Let’s start with somewhat vague - 11
Touchscreen MacBook Pro rumours: Release date, OLED, specs and latest leaksMacworld The touchscreen MacBook Pro has been the subject of speculation ever since Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman first reported in 2023 that Apple was exploring the idea. At the time, the claim seemed hard to believe given Apple’s long-standing opposition to touchscreen laptops. Three years later, however, the rumours are becoming increasingly difficult to dismiss. Multiple reports suggest Apple has overcome the technical and design challenges that previously stood in the way. If they’re accurate, th - 12

Latest macOS beta: What’s new and should you install it?Macworld Apple released macOS 27 Golden Gate on September 14, 2026, but development hasn’t stopped. Just two days later on September 16, Apple issued the first developer beta of macOS 27.2, beginning testing of the operating system’s next major point update. Yes, that’s macOS 27.2, not macOS 27.1. The macOS 27.2 beta gives developers and testers early access to Apple’s latest fixes, refinements and any features that weren’t ready for the initial Golden Gate release. However, as with any beta sof - 14
Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro Max recall explained: Is Qualcomm to blame?Macworld The launch of the iPhone 18 Pro Max has been anything but smooth for AT&T users. Ever since the phone started shipping two weeks ago, reports have been cropping up about an inability to make calls, send texts, or even call emergency services. Considering we’re talking about a phone, it’s a serious issue. In a statement to Macworld and other media outlets , Apple said that “a small number of iPhone 18 Pro Max users on the AT&T network” with phones that have already been affected by the i - 15
iOS 27.2 beta 3 is out now with the new Health app and moreMacworld Just a couple days after the wide release of iOS 27, Apple has released the first beta of iOS 27.2. That’s not a typo: it’s iOS 27.2, not 27.1. We never saw a 27.1 release, but Apple is beginning beta tests for the 27.2 branch. This likely has something to do with the iPhone Duo, which is going on sale in October. We know the iPhone Duo will come with iOS 27.1, but we don’t yet know if any other devices will ever get a 27.1 update, or when all the devices will get on the same version to - 16

The upcoming touchscreen MacBook Pro may be Air-lightMacworld After years of rumors and speculation, it looks like the first MacBook Pro with a touchscreen is finally almost here. If the latest leaks are to be believed, the device is currently in testing within Apple on macOS 27.2, and should arrive within the next month or so. This new MacBook Pro won’t just be a current model with a touchscreen.
